The Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course, at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, has recently been named as “The Best Golf Resort in Australasia” in the World Travel Awards. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful golf courses in Fiji, the Natadola Bay has also landed a contract to become the host of one of the biggest sporting events in the world – the golf tournament, the Fiji International. The newest event of the PGA Tour of Australasia will be held at the Natadola Bay for at least the next five years, with the inaugural tournament starting in August 2014. The event is guaranteed a minimum prize haul of $US1 million and demonstrates Fiji is one of the leading destinations for golf in the world. The 18-hole championship Natadola course is on the island of Viti Levu and features perfectly manicured greens that are built around a hilly landscape and provide magnificent ocean views.
Shangri-La Fijian Resort and Spa
The Shangri-La Fijian Resort and Spa is next to the list of our best golf courses in Fiji. The Executive Golf Course at the five-star Shangri-La Fijian Resort and Spa is the only course in Fiji with Tifton Dwarf greens and is the perfect location for some relaxing holiday golf. Extended and recreated over the years, the course at the Shangri-La Fijian features nine holes (one with a double water hazard) and sand traps. The design of the par-32 course was created by Peter Thompson, a previous British Open winner, and the layout includes five par three holes and four par-four holes. The resort is located just a 45-minute drive from Nadi International Airport, on the main island of Viti Levu, and is connected by a causeway to the mainland.
Denarau Golf and Racquet Club
The prestigious Denarau Golf and Racquet Club, also on Viti Levu, was designed by Japan’s Pannya Planning and the par-72 course features 18 holes of golf with breathtaking views of the Pacific. One of the premier championship courses in Fiji, the Denarau is located close to the Sheraton Fiji Resort, meaning easy access for holidaymakers. It features water hazards on 15 of the holes, flat fairways, unique bunkers (some in the shape of sea creatures), and a beautifully landscaped course with lots of coconut palm trees. Golfing aficionados can also take advantage of the site’s fully stocked pro shop, modern clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, driving range, two practice putting greens, professional lessons, and self-improvement clinics.
Nadi Airport Golf Club
Another championship golf course on Viti Levu, the Nadi Airport Golf Club is located adjacent to Nadi International Airport and is a good choice for casual golfers who don’t want to pay a lot for a game. The course overlooks Wailoaloa Beach so players can enjoy sea, as well as mountain, views while sharpening up their skills on this challenging par-70 course. The Nadi Airport Golf Club features 18 holes, a licensed clubhouse, fully equipped pro shop, and a driving range. Visitors can also take advantage of lessons while they’re at the club.
The Pearl South Pacific Fiji Resort
The championship golf course at the Pearl is one of the most beautiful in Fiji, set amongst tropical rainforests and winding canals. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Gary Roger Baird, the course features 66 bunkers and water hazards on 12 of the 18 holes. Located on Viti Levu, it is an adventurous golf course popular with players who enjoy a good challenge. The site also features a driving range designed by Gary Roger Baird.
